Who needs this

Any business with portable electrical equipment in use. The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 require all electrical equipment to be maintained in a safe condition. Most insurers and commercial landlords expect annual PAT testing as a minimum. Care homes, hospitality, offices, salons and holiday lets are among the most common settings we work in across Devon.

Scope

TestSafe Compliance provides audit, assessment and reporting only. We do not provide legal advice or act as legal representatives.

Repair or recycle

A failed appliance does not have to leave you with the problem. We can take faulty items away for responsible disposal under the WEEE Regulations, or attempt an on-site repair where the fault is straightforward.

Any item we repair is re-tested and added back to your register so the record stays accurate. Items beyond a straightforward repair are referred to a qualified electrician.

FAQs

Common questions about PAT testing

How often do I need PAT testing in Devon?

There is no fixed legal interval. The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 require electrical equipment to be maintained in a safe condition; HSE guidance and most insurers expect annual PAT testing for commercial and rented premises, with shorter intervals for high-use environments like construction.

Do you provide a PAT testing certificate?

Yes. You get a written register of every appliance tested, a pass or fail per item, and recommendations on anything that should be removed from service.

How much does PAT testing cost?

Pricing depends on appliance count. You can get a quote on the contact page after a short scoping conversation, no per-item charge surprises after the visit.

Do you test fixed wiring (EICR)?

Not as part of PAT testing. We can refer you to a NICEIC contractor for fixed wiring inspections.

Need more than just this?

If you've got two or more on your list, an annual or retained package usually works out cheaper.
