Common questions about document management audits

What is checked in a document management audit?

Records storage (paper and digital), retention periods against legal requirements, access controls, confidential disposal and version control for live documents.

How long do I have to keep payroll, HR and tax records?

Different documents have different retention periods, payroll typically 3 years after the tax year, employment records typically 6 years from leaving date, accident records typically 3 years from the date. We map your records to the relevant period.

Do you carry out the shredding?

On request, as an add-on. The audit on its own is the review of what should and should not be kept.

What do I get?

A clean register of every record type, the retention period, where it is held, who has access and the disposal protocol.

Need more than just this?

If you've got two or more on your list, an annual or retained package usually works out cheaper.
